I'm debating on the cost-effectiveness of 4410 vs 4310. 3HP additional at 4410 engine and PTO for $US1,500. Dealer's advice is mixed..."buy highest HP on the medium frame" and "you'll only notice the difference in the PTO". I kind of lean to the 10% increase in HP, but if it's truly a waste of time for my mainly FEL, grader, rake use, then I'll spend the $1,500 elsewhere. I would appreciate any comments.

I thought $1500 was too much extra for three more hp, so I went with the 4310. The only time I've missed the extra power is when chipping 6" logs, but since 6" logs are more useful as firewood I'm happy with the 4310. ....

I own a 2002 4410. I would suggest going with the 4310 unless you have some unusual requirement for the extra hp and torque. I got an unusually good deal on mine otherwise I would have gone with a 4310. In most applications I doubt that you would notice that much difference. ....

I had use of a 4210 for about a month and on several ocasions found the power lacking when using the FL...I would suggest you take the long view...you may not need the PTO HP now but in 5 years or 10 it may be a different kettle of fish. I suggest going for the extra HP...its peanuts when spread over the life of the tractor. ....

Thanks for that comment, and to all others who responded in this and other threads - I've made the decision for a 4410/430/4-in-one bucket - around $US28K all up - on order last week, for delivery in 4 weeks or so. Longer term view of possible need for the extra grunt at some time was a key factor in my decision. Dealer came down a little more on price, and treated me very well during the decision - including coming onsite and walking the property with me to advise re slopes etc. - great service, which I would expect to continue post-purchase. ....
